Vidovi’s Journey #21: The Levitating Globe & Hula Dance at Thinker Things

Destination: Thinker Things, Honolulu

Aloha! Leaving the concrete jungle behind, Vidovi takes a long flight across the Pacific Ocean and lands in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii. The ocean breeze and bright sunshine welcome him to the islands.

His destination is located inside the popular Kahala Mall: a fascinating store called Thinker Things. Unlike traditional toy shops, this place is packed with educational games, science kits, and mind-bending puzzles. Vidovi is searching for a figure that embodies the spirit of the islands: the rare “Tiki Guardian” Blind Box.

Story Recap: The Centrifugal Force Challenge

  • The Physics Puzzle: Vidovi spots the Tiki Guardian. True to the store’s educational theme, the blind box is perfectly balanced atop a rapidly spinning, magnetic levitating globe display. It is floating in mid-air!
  • The Fling: Vidovi reaches out to grab it, but he misjudges the speed. The moment his paw touches the box, the centrifugal force of the spinning globe flings him away! He goes tumbling across the aisle. Brute force won’t work here; this requires synchronization.
  • The Island Solution: Embracing the local culture, Vidovi dons a traditional Grass Skirt and a beautiful flower Lei. He decides to beat physics with rhythm. He begins to perform a traditional Hula dance.
  • The Perfect Catch: Sway, step, sway. Vidovi focuses on the swaying movements of his hips and hands. He matches his Hula rhythm perfectly with the rotational speed of the levitating globe. Synchronized with the spin, he gently reaches out and plucks the blind box without disturbing the magnetic balance at all! Vidovi flashes a friendly “Shaka” sign to the amazed store clerks, packs his Tiki prize, and prepares for his next flight.
