Vidovi’s Journey #18: Kudzu Vines & The Peach Picker at Anime Remix
Chapter 18: The Vine That Ate the Store – Georgia on My Mind
Destination: Anime Remix, Alpharetta
Vidovi travels deep into the lush, green suburbs of Alpharetta, Georgia, just north of Atlanta. The South is famous for its heat and its greenery, and Vidovi is here to experience both.
He arrives at Anime Remix, a beloved local store that has served the otaku community for years. The shop is a hidden gem of imported goods. Fitting the lush surroundings, Vidovi is hunting for a nature-themed treasure: the “Forest Spirit” Blind Box (inspired by the magical worlds of Studio Ghibli).
Story Recap: The Kudzu Trap
- The Display: Vidovi spots the target! But the store has created an elaborate “Enchanted Forest” display. It is covered in thick, tangled artificial vines that resemble Kudzu—the famous “vine that ate the South” which covers trees and buildings all over Georgia.
- The Tangle: The blind box is nestled high up in the dense greenery. Vidovi tries to climb the vines to reach it. Bad move! The Kudzu fights back. Within seconds, Vidovi is hopelessly knotted up in the green mess, dangling like a trapped bug.
- The Agricultural Solution: A store employee laughs kindly and shakes their head. “You can’t fight the Kudzu,” they say. Embracing the local agricultural spirit of the “Peach State,” the employee hands Vidovi a traditional “Peach Picker” (a long wooden pole with a wire basket at the end).
- The Harvest: Vidovi (once untangled) uses the pole. He carefully guides the basket under the blind box and gives a gentle nudge. Plop! The toy falls safely into the basket, just like a ripe, fuzzy Georgia peach. Vidovi claims his harvest and prepares for the final stretch of the journey.
